Santa Claus in the Eye of a Needle! a needle!
I have often wondered how Santa Claus also know as Saint Nicholas, Saint Nick, Father Christmas, Kris Kringle, Santa, Pere Noel, I could go on! Just how Santa manages to get down the chimneys undetected in the middle of the night? Perhaps we are a little nearer the answer with my magical microscopic creation. Inspired by my favourite 'Father Christmas' animation by Rayond Briggs, I made this micro sculpture inside the eye of a needle! Measuring less that 1mm it's the same size as a grain of sugar and begs the question; how many of these can you get inside a Christmas cracker! I enjoyed creating this so much, that I've decided to launch a new Christmas themed artwork every year! If you are under 16 years of age please suggest ideas for future Christmases through my social media posts. Each artwork can take months to complete so please get your suggestions in early!

Press Release - Microscopic Beetlejuice created inside the eye of a needle!
This creative artwork is a unique family collaboration between the microscopic artist David A Lindon and his daughter Abigail. The microscopic Beetlejuice was created to compliment the release of the new Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2) film on the 6th September 2024, along with a giant Sandworm made by Abigail measuring three meters long! Beetlejuice Sculpture 1.9mm x 0.9mm Created 23rd June 2024, mounted in glass & metal.
I made this Beetlejuice (Betelgeuse) surrounding it with a psychedelic swirling mixture of my favourite colours. The pink, magenta, purple and yellows contrast with the figure’s black and white stripped suit. His head is crowned with a stock of bright green hair giving him his famous mad look! I made his white teeth individually and placed them into his mouth using a flies antenna! I also found knotting his microscopic tie was challenging task with only one pair of hands. The sign took weeks of dexterity and artistic control to write so precisely. So many attempts were undertaken before the end result was achieved it almost ended up being thrown out the window in frustration. Abigail worked in the evenings seven days a week to design, cut, sew and stitch together this huge Sandworm with her unique animation puppet making skills.

Microscopic cheetah artwork in eye of a needle sells for big sum
A microscopic artwork of a cheetah valued at £30,000 has been sold.
Bournemouth-based micro artist David A Lindon spent three months creating the tiny masterpiece in the eye of a needle.
David said: “This is one of my recent creations in 2024. I have painted an African sunset on the background of this needle, with rocky mountains and a lush savannah grassland.
“The detailed tree has great texture and realistic branches for the cheetah to stand on, while it searches for its prey. Around the base of the tree there are delicate flowers and various shades of moss.
“The cheetah has a fluffy white underside, and its head is smaller than the point of a pin.
“I like the way the artistic layers weave together to tell the story of this beautiful animal. “
The microscopic cheetah was commissioned by Sue and William from Nantwich in Cheshire.
It measures 0.7mm x 0.4mm and is mounted in glass and metal.
It was commissioned after David's recently exhibited The World’s Smallest Zoo comprising 24 microscopic animal masterpieces.

1st July 2024- Press Release - Sold £30,000 Micro Cheetah
Hunched over my microscope for what feels like an eternity, hardly moving a muscle, my brain slips into another world of molecular challenges, where my artistic skills defy human logic. I work, breaking the laws of physics, to push the boundaries of what is humanly possible. I create art smaller than a grain of sand! Under my powerful microscope I exceed what is imaginable, expand the levels of detail and variety, and push creative ingenuity to new heights.
This microscopic Cheetah was commissioned by Sue and William from Nantwich in Cheshire.
They have been very supportive over the years and have become great friends and huge art enthusiasts.
After recently attending my exhibition 'The World’s Smallest Zoo' comprising twenty four microscopic animal masterpieces, they dedicated themselves to owning a piece of my latest work.

3rd June 2024 - Press Release - The Smallest Stonehenge Sculpture in the World!
I made the smallest Stonehenge sculpture in the world! Just in time for the summer solstice on the 20th June 2024.
The stones measure 0.1mm to 0.7mm tall (100 to 700 microns) At 100 microns that's the same thickness of a human hair! This microscopic size marvel, is set on a gold pin that rotates 360 degrees with a flick of a switch, suspended inside a glass dome. Valued at £24,000 this world first took 3 months to make.
I love to push the boundaries of what is possible and I surprise myself with the level of detail and ingenuity that I am able to create under a microscope.
Interesting Facts; Stonehenge took 1500 years to build, mine took just 3 months. The mysterious megaliths weigh up-to 30 tons, mine is lighter that the smallest feather. No-one knows how it was built, how I make my paintings and sculptures is a secret! Stonehenge displays incredible feats of engineering, so does mine! Stonehenge was a sacred burial site, you can use mine to bury a flea! The original site had incredible acoustic qualities and famously the monument was built to align with the solstice, mine was engineered to rotate 360 degrees, any day of the year!
The original Stonehenge remains an enigmatic symbol of human ingenuity and ancient craftsmanship. As we uncover more about its history, these fascinating facts only deepen our sense of wonder and admiration for this extraordinary, UNESCO-listed monument. If you visit Stonehenge in person you will feel the mystique of this amazing place.
The microscopic Stonehenge and the recently exhibited 'The World’s Smallest Zoo' is the creation of renowned micro-artist David A. Lindon. Both can now be seen at Hammond Galleries / The Worlds Smallest Zoo exhibition at The Mander Centre, Wolverhampton, WV1 3NH. Chris Long & David A Lindon - collaboration
Chris Long has spent the last 15 years creating geometric optical illusions; effects that can make shapes appear to be moving or 3D. His latest work has involved combining techniques to create even more pronounced optical illusions. His aim is to create dramatic effects that draw the viewer in as they work out what is going on in the piece. Chris has now partnered with artist David A Lindon. David specialises in recreating artworks and scenes in extreme miniature. They’ve collaborated to make a tiny version of the pixelated Rembrandt, so small it can fit on the surface of the hat worn by its main subject in the original.
The Night Watch - Pixelated & Microscopic collaboration
Chris and David have created a true masterpiece based of an original masterpiece from the Dutch Golden Age. Recreating Rembrandts famous The Night Watch Chris Long painstakingly recreated the painting using 32,000 5mm x 5mm squares, each tiny coloured square being painstakingly hand-mixed and hand-painted to create the pixelated artwork on display. This process was incredibly mentally and physically demanding taking 6 months to create. Further to this, Chris wanted to take his artwork even further partnering with David Lindon to create the smallest version of the Rembrandt to date within the artwork with the first collaboration of its kind. Within the black hat you can find within one of the pixel squares another version of the original painting created through David’s special technique. The microscopic Rembrandt painting is 2.2mm x 1.8mm made from over 60 individual components. It is the most technically difficult and physically demanding microscopic masterpiece David has created. He first creates his own handmade microscopic tools, each not visible to the naked eye. David has to work at night to avoid the vibrations of the daytime traffic, working for between 6-10 hours at a time. David enters an almost meditative state and is required to work between his heartbeats due to the pulse passing through his fingers being too much movement.

Inside the ‘world’s smallest zoo’ where animals can only be seen with a microscope
If you visit the exhibition of tiny animals created by
the UK’s most famous microscopic artist, you’d better polish your glasses first. David Lindon has previously made headlines for recreating a Banksy painting as well as Mickey Mouse in teeny tiny proportions. He has now made a menagerie of miniature creatures for his first solo exhibition, the World’s Smallest Zoo, with each contained inside the eye of a needle, or even the head of a pin.
‘You cannot see them with the naked eye; they’re that tiny,’ David tells Metro.co.uk. ‘You have to look at them through the through the magnifier.’
The smallest exhibit on show in Wolverhampton is a penguin which is so small it sits on the head of a pin, at 0.25mm x 0.3mm. Most of the others are all smaller than 1mm in all directions.
Making the art is a painstaking process where things can go wrong in a heartbeat – literally.
‘You can lose the art in an instant,’ David said of his work done in a meditative state in the middle of the night to avoid noises and vibrations from traffic.
‘You have to basically become a dead man if that’s the right word; a zombie. You have to slow your heartbeat down. I’ve got to control every muscle every fibre of my body. I control the microscope with my feet, sat there at night with the curtains drawn.’
‘I must be mad and I don’t really enjoy it!’ David admits. ‘But when it’s done it’s such a relief.’
After the tension of creating the art – which sometimes really does get destroyed with a rogue twitch – he gets the joy and satisfaction from looking at the works and seeing others mesmerised.
That’s why he plans to be at his exhibition over the Easter weekend, wearing a purple pinstriped suit and ‘looking like Willy Wonka’ so he will be easy for guests to spot.
‘People look at the needles with their own eyes and can hardly see it at all as it’s so small. So then they do a double take and look at it again through the magnifier and go, ‘Oh it really is that small; I can’t believe it’. That’s the reaction I love.’

Artist recreates microscopic '£75k' version of Banksy's famous Girl with Balloon painting inside the eye of a needle... before shredding it just like the original
The Banksy miniature was also shredded like the original using tiny microblades. An artist dubbed 'Microangelo' has recreated a microscopic version of a Banksy masterpiece inside the eye of a needle.
Microartist David A Lindon spent months painting Banky's Girl with Balloon before shredding it, just like the original was shredded during a live auction in 2018. The miniature copy was shredded using microblades set within a 24-carat gold picture frame.
1st January 2024 - BNN Indian Breaking News
Microangelo’s Masterstroke: Banksy’s ‘Girl with Balloon’ Recreated in a Needle’s Eye. David A Lindon, commonly known as ‘Microangelo’, has crafted an astounding microscopic replica of Banksy’s iconic artwork ‘Girl with Balloon’ within the eye of a needle, paying homage not only to the original piece but also its unexpected shredding during a live auction in 2018. This painstakingly precise work of artistry, so tiny that it resides comfortably within the confines of a needle’s eye, has been privately acquired for an undisclosed sum.
A Testament to Meticulous Craftsmanship
Lindon’s miniature masterpieces have been appraised at over £75,000 in the past, a testament to their intricate detailing and the artist’s exceptional craftsmanship. He employs an array of materials in his creations, from Kevlar and carpet fibers to ceramics, crushed micro pigments, and precious metals and stones. His work station is a microscope, and his tool of choice is the delicate tip of an ostrich feather. Reflecting on the Original ‘Girl with Balloon’
The original ‘Girl with Balloon’, birthed by the elusive Banksy in 2002, has endeared itself as one of the UK’s most cherished pieces of art. The artwork fetched over £1 million at an auction before it was partially shredded in a surprising turn of events. The semi-destroyed piece, rechristened ‘Love is in the Bin’, found a new owner in 2021 for a staggering £18 million.
Microangelo’s Dedication and Precision
Working at such a microscopic level demands extreme concentration and precision, as a single misstep could spell ruin for the delicate pieces. Lindon’s dedication to his craft is palpable in the awe-inspiring reactions elicited by his minute masterpieces. His miniature of Banksy’s ‘Girl with Balloon’ is not only a tribute to the original art but also a testament to Lindon’s extraordinary talent and dedication.

Former BBC arts editor Will Gompertz wrote at the time that he believed Love is in the Bin would go on to be seen as "one of the most significant artworks of the early 21st Century".
David crafted "Love is in the Bin" with the utmost precision, using the tip of the finest quality Ostrich feather to recreate Banksy's iconic imagery. The result is a mesmerizing fusion of macro and micro artistry, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the world of miniature masterpieces.
The micro-painting is now part of an exclusive collection of modern masterpieces, including David A Lindon's previous works such as "Happy Choppers," currently on a touring exhibition in America. Other notable pieces within this unique assembly include the "The Flower Thrower" triptych, "Girl with Balloon" (both previously sold), and the available "Love Rat," among others.
This private acquisition underscores David’s rising prominence in the art world and solidifies his position as the greatest micro artist of our generation. Thursday 23rd November - Press Release
This day marks 60 years since the first episode of Doctor Who aired on the BBC! That's 60 Years of hiding behind the settee watching Doctor Who!
On this day in 1963, English actor William Hartnell wearing a black velvet town coat, tweed waist coat and his favorite astrakhan hat, played the first Doctor Who in the opening black and white television series. With his granddaughter Susan, he met his first new assistants schoolteachers Ian and Barbra. Hartnell became the first of many to play The Doctor. The show is now the world's longest-running science fiction television drama.
To commemorate this anniversary, world renown artist David A Lindon has created Doctor Who's original arch nemesis in miniature. This 1963 Dalek is set on a solid gold pin with a homage to the series opening titles featuring a mesmerizing blue background. The Dalek measures only 1.8mm tall and 0.7mm wide. Photographed with a brass wood screw and a match for scale the microscopic artwork took 6 weeks to create with miniature hand tools and single hair paint brushes. David time-traveled working so hard he often missed sleeping as he worked all though the night and well into the next day to complete the Dalek for the BBC anniversary.

Smallest War Memorial In The World! Painting measures 0.5mm x 0.7mm
I made this microscopic diorama inside the eye of a needle in remembrance of my Uncle Bill and all the fallen of past and present wars.
My creation includes the silhouette of a lone soldier and a single red poppy. This poignant painting framed in gold is nestled on a bed of miniature red poppies. His Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress of The Tower of London is set in the background, which incorporates the Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red 2014 poppy art installation. The poppies encircle the tower and fill the Tower's moat which marked Britain's involvement in WW1.
My Uncle Bill, Trooper William Lindon served from 17th June 1940 in the Third Royal Tank Regiment. Killed in action 3rd July 1942 Aged 21 and buried at the CWGC Cemetery at El Alamein Egypt. At this time of year we reflect on Bill's short but eventful life and take time to read his letters to his family sent from the front. Bill died before I was born but luckily having inherited his mementos from my father helps me connect with this fallen hero. I am proud to be able to create this microscopic masterpiece for this national Day of Remembrance.

Microscopic size Mickey Mouse!
16th October 1923: Walt Disney decides to move to California with his brother Roy and starts "The Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio.” This is the actual 100th Anniversary date of the creation of the Disney company. "Mortimer mouse" had been the original name for the character before his wife Lillian, convinced him to change it. Mickey was first seen in a test screening of the cartoon short 'Plane Crazy' on May 15th 1928. The Cinderella Castle completed in July 1971 is 183 feet (56 meters) tall.
This microscopic size Mickey Mouse only measures 0.8mm x 1.2mm tall!
Standing one Mickey Mouse on top of the other to reach the same height as the castle would require a total of 46,666 little Mickeys!
This microscopic Mickey Mouse in the eye of a needle commemorates this historic centenary. The background incorporates the Cinderella Castle! The art was created by David A Lindon to honor Disney's event. David can make anything microscopic including wonders that light up and even rotate around 360 degrees.

Wednesday 21st June 2023 - Press Release
World renowned micro artist David A Lindon has recreated 3 of Vincent van Gogh’s greatest masterpieces, inside a watch for the very first time.
David’s Van Gogh Masterpiece Watch has been valued at £150,000. The only watch in the world that includes three microscopic paintings inside the watch case that rotate along with the tourbillon movement.
An exclusive tribute to the world-famous painter Vincent van Gogh, this incredible watch is the first of its kind in the world and contains three tiny microscopic paintings of Vincent's greatest masterpieces, Starry Night, Sunflowers and Self Portrait. The three microscopic paintings each took David two months to create entirely by hand. The size of the individual paintings are simply staggering at only 0.5mm (0.019 inches) in size which is smaller than a full stop. Each painting is painstakingly presented, located at the end of each leg of the tourbillon, (Archer Zeroo Time T4 watch) which rotates with the watch’s mechanism.
This unique watch is the world’s first wearable art gallery, it enables the lucky owner the option of taking their favourite pieces of artwork with them anywhere in the world.
David A Lindon and Edward Hammond collaborated to create this Van Gogh Trilogy Watch to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam this month and this unique watch forms part of the Inspired By…Vincent exhibition held at Hammond Galleries Contemporary Art, Shifnal from the 1st of July.
The artwork is both the world’s smallest trilogy of masterpiece paintings by David A Lindon and also the first wearable Vincent van Gogh art gallery, inside a wristwatch. By far the most challenging part was for David to accurately re-create these world-famous paintings on a scale that has never been attempted before.
The first of a series of unique art watches containing David's micro masterpiece paintings, David also has available to reserve unique Banksy, Warhol, Dali and Picasso trilogy watches.
David said ‘This Van Gogh masterpieces watch is truly unique and I am thrilled to be able to offer it to the public. Hammond Galleries brand new gallery in Shifnal houses the largest collection of microscopic artwork in the UK and will be a centre of excellence for miniature artworks from the UK and around the world.’

Wednesday 30th March 2022 - Surprise Guest!
I was the surprise guest at the St Albans C of E Academy in Willenhall , I gave a talk about my microscopic sculptures and paintings at the school assembly in front of the children and invited parents. Hammond Galleries had run an art competition to encourage children interested in art and the assembly was arranged to celebrate the end of the competition. Edward Hammond and I handed out twenty seven certificates. Lauren won the first prize but then Mr Jones the headmaster asked her to reveal something hidden under a purple cloth. Unknown to Lauren and the rest of the school I had recreated her winning clay sculpture, a colourful ring donut. I had recreated exactly her ring donut and placed it inside the eye of a needle and they were both revealed side by side. "For me, Lauren's sculpture captured love and joy instantly. It was made for her mum and it was a privilege to reproduce this giving the school meaningful art to inspire generations with wonder and creativity for years to come" David A Lindon
The Art has been donated to the school and will be on permanent display.
A big thank you to all the staff and children for making me feel so welcome.
